The magic had some really great stretches last night and really showed a lot of heart and confidence. The magic in the fourth quarter, especially after dead balls, looked so timid that they almost threw away one of their bigger leads of the season. How long do we have to watch this asshole run these dudes down. He isn’t developing anything as far on the defensive end, and he obviously is giving everyone the green light to shoot the ball as they feel, as long as they play fast. This guy isn’t good for the development of the team, and if the magic do ever break through for one, I am highly positive it will not be with a guy who can’t get his guys to work together, or atleast come up with a scheme that makes it easier for them. It’s the same mistakes every night with late/missed rotations leading to open shooters. In transition the ball is the focal point to the point where guys are frozen in time and can only focus on that, they can’t locate anything else. Listen, I love the guys they have on the floor, and I love the heart they are putting out there every night. I am not sure what Clifford does behind the scenes, but I am not sure R&D is his strong suit. The magic are in way too deep at this point to not fully commit to rising with youth.
Basketball isn’t supposed to hurt
I don’t know what deal was made with the devil in order to get the magic to Orlando originally, but obviously it included comprising the future of the organization. It’s amazing how the magic get a guy who grinds out their development team, to come to the show and perform at a level more efficiently and effectively than most on the court at the current time, and he’s rewarded with needing to be wheeled off the court with a boot on his ankle. Like everything that glitters in Orlando is because it’s already broken. My mind and soul are tired as I care, about everything, and honestly everything shows how it doesn’t care anything about me.
Complacency is a crime, wanting more is not
At this point, I think writing about everything that goes on in the magic games, that doesn’t deal with the magic would not only probably make me happier, but keep me sane. The fact we got rid of our only offensive minded center, to then have a physical freak come in and try to do the same is just such a poke in my eyes. Guys play with no discipline on the defensive end, even the guards are trying to go and block everything like they are playing Florida high school ball. I’m not saying I am not happy overall where the roster is heading. I think it’s great, I do feel that the magic should damn commit to a complete overhaul though. The culture in the magic locker room is not really that of killers and I think that just starts at top. We need what Thibs has done to the Knicks. Those boys are ruthless and do not give a fuck who is showing up. The magic can’t wait to dap up after the game and try and figure out who they can work out with in the summer.
Through the looking glass for positives
I am living off the fact that the bulls have still sucked even though they acquired an all star. It gives me air, it allows me to feel like myself. When I start to think of how much I hate Clifford, it brings me down. It gives me a feeling of no self identity. It’s amazing how consistently the bottom defender on pick and rolls for the magic look completely out of place. It is something that makes no sense honestly. Like is any tape watched what so ever by anyone on the coaching staff? This is going on a head and a half of this problem being so prevalent that I have to write about it multiple times a year to get it off my brain. But honestly, when you think about the bulls, I tell you as a magic fan that just brings you to heaven.
Shell shocked
I hate that I have to write this blog, because not only did the bulls fleece us for vucci, but they are also dumpstering in taking since getting him. They just had a lot more vision for the situation and honestly maybe at this point it’s hard to rationalize how the magic would ever say the win the trade. I mean it stinks the magic got a lot younger, loosened up salary, and they started playing better than the interconfrence team that traded their star to. The Chicago bulls sure are up to something with that incredible offensive duo. These dudes seem like defense is a different language, but who cares you know? Points! Can you argue with it? The magic side can’t and now here we are, more competitive after getting younger. Just can’t believe it.
Repetition is soothing
I may just have to write a variation of the same blog until I am lucky enough to have my dreams come to fruition. Clifford just isn’t the coach for the future, honestly bald isn’t even hardly cool anymore. Two things that are both true and both pertain to him. Whether it be his inability to find ways to help the team become better defensively, or to even get something on top of his head that would keep it from being cold, this guy isn’t what we need in orlando. Orlando is a vibrant community with a lot of hair, and people who get better as time goes on. We just would like a basketball coach to match.
Keep cooking chef
The Orlando magic have possibly done everything they needed to do to make everyone who roots for them fairly happy for some time. They could still you know possibly do a little more just to add some sugar and that would be sweet, like letting Clifford go run someone else’s teams fairly poorly. They could maybe let him let go let others get stagnant while he watches the clock tick away so he can get home and watch whatever sci-fi bull shit he’s enjoying at the time. I understand the current roster at hand won’t necessarily take a lot of teams to 7 or knock them out sooner, but much like cliffords theme all year, the team doesn’t get better where they struggle as the year goes on. And it doesn’t matter who or what is saying when and where, that’s the coaches fault and he needs to be accountable.
Paying lawyers will affect paying players
At this point my sources are being told that the magic are actually having a felony case put against them for the robbery of RJ Hampton. Now listen I understand how good AG has been in Denver, and yes I’ve heard all the stats about his +/- and how they are winning and stuff. But at some point AG will get complacent again, he will fall back to the prolific jump shooter when he gets a little upset. Already RJ works harder on D. This dude is so active, and he has the IQ already to be able to play lanes defensively all while not being out of place. It’s truly magically amazing. I am head over heals for the guards that the magic have, even if they are guard heavy, these guys are gems and if it comes to the point where you have to part ways, we have nothing but increasing value. These are moves to call mom about people, the magic are getting to work and it is something that I think I have been incredibly critical of. With a result such as this coming back I can do nothing but praise them at this point. This year has flipped into such a huge positive.
Wind in the sails
The right decisions so far has definitely been made by the magic. Blowing up the team they started the year with was long over due. Amazingly enough as well at this point, the magic have really taken the dirt off some very beautiful Gems. These guys who are showing up every night are working their ass off and really carving a spot for themselves. It’s been some interesting down the stretch decision making from a lot of people from coaches to guys on the floor, but at this point with the effort on the floor there is nothing more you can talk about. Learning at full speed requires you to go full speed, and finally I think there is no question at this point about the effort. Everyone between the lines care very much and it reflects to people watching. It’s absolutely fantastic to root for people who care.
Free basketball leads to free thoughts
I am going back and retroactively making a list of every person who cried and moaned about the changing of the guard when it comes to this magic team, because if you weren’t anything but excited for what it meant for not only of the future of the team (which smart people knew at the time was very bright), but also for the team that is showing up to the arena on nights now and competing their absolute dicks off this season then you need to be lined up like you are getting the vaccine and be slapped. These young guys who just want nothing more than to prove themselves in this league, prove that they belong, are coming in and putting together some beautiful works of art. These guys are so fiery, that are so jumpy and smothering on defense that you have no choice but to fall in love. Chuma Okeke is incredible, Dewayne Bacon cares a lot and works his damn ass off and gets all over the floor, James Ennis is so efficient and stays in your ass, we have Wendell Carter coming in VERY early producing huge double doubles and being a monster down the stretch of games. Someone like Otto Porter is very good at basketball and he just needs to adjust. I truly do not think people exactly understand how well off the magic are. It isn’t sinking in that with a team like the Nets in the league, a real commitment to the future. These types of moves set you up to have a set of 6 to 8 great years when you find your stride and the league has its shift. People are only thinking short term, because their small brains can only process enough information to understand the short term scope. I think the magic has been known for two things for a long time, and I think we are going to be lucky enough to see one of those changes, that being the magic have a real path to look to become their own top title contender. The one thing sadly we may always have to deal with is most of the magic fan base is tried and true morons.
