The magic played an incredibly hard fought game that felt great to be able to turn into the W. There were times where execution was maybe put to the wayside and instinct seemed to take over, which at times can be very good especially in fast paced games. I think there were a lot of things that guys can build confidence off of especially on the late wrap up. This is going to be a wild ride of an 82 game stretch I am imagining. I am just so thankful the magic could get this confidence builder off the C team of the Celtics.
Is anyone fooled anymore?
At this point, it’s impossible to make jokes about the Magic because I believe to be able to joke, having hope and optimism helps create the satire. Now everything that comes out of my mouth seems so real, no matter how crazy it sounds. I think the magic couldn’t have flopped the drafts the past couple of years any worse. Truthfully, no one seems NBA ready, or atleast like they deserve to be there. The problems on defense may never go away, if a dribble hand off happens, the magic are lost. Doesn’t matter who, or what position. Having to switch and communicate is truly the Magic’s biggest downfall. They constantly look lost and they give up easy buckets. I hate to be someone who gives up on people fast, but at this point I think it will be a lot easier on my heart if I make the decision to be realistic early. I just can’t understand who is being looked at as the right piece. We have a lot of good third pieces for teams, but no one really to step up and be what is needed. It’s an ufortunate time to want to try and be hopeful, because you are going to be let down a lot. This very well could be a long season, and doing a lot of window shopping of other teams having fun. I hate being left out and this is dumb.
This being the month of Halloween makes sense.
After spending plenty of time going back through and just trying to look at little things. It’s simply amazing how the magic CAN NEVER GET RID OF THEIR FUCKING DEMONS. Once one switch took place last night, the magic defense lost all their ability to look good and play good. From the first rotation every movement is slow, to sometimes completely missed. We have these guys who just want to focus on the offensive end as they aren’t even consistent killers, and it feels like absoluetly nothing is worked on when it comes to defense, especially as a team. I mean these young guards get broke down all the time, which is to be expected. But they should know how they can get back to an effective spot, they should be able to read the floor and have a feel for where they will be most effective. Instead, we are constantly caught off guard to things, allowing shots on the back side of defense at all times due to a skip, or a fast turn around of the ball and it’s just embarrassing. The magic cannot play defense, they may just never be capable of it again. The amount of easy the looks the magic give, vs what they give, truly is night and day and it’s haunting.
Bright hope off a fresh bald head
After only being able to watch highlights, and being able to gather the absolute bare minimum, I have some things I want to say about last night. Efficiency was a lot better in execution. There seemed to be more patience on allowing things to develop on the floor. GUYS ARE MORE FIT INTO THEIR ROLES. Although Mo, had some freedom and roaming, he was a monster inside. He looked comfortable, and best of all he was incredibly effective. This season for the magic is not going to be an easy one by any means with the teams around the league, but if they can play with a new found sense of maturity, and poise, these men might really find themselves being an incredibly competitive and annoying bunch to a lot of teams around the league. The foundation is atleast there. I cannot be more excited to have that bald fuck finally out. I hope this bald guy comes in and is truthfully a savior, and not just another bald fuck.
The ask is not too much
Part of being a sports fan, is being able to look at such a bright future ahead of the franchise you have in your local market, and thinking about how this organization has been able to absolutely fuck it up, time and time again. Whether it be draft picks that never transition to the league, or trades of guys who immediately are able to ramp up their productivity levels. The magic have this group of guards who have an almost mystical feeling around them in what their possibility for development is. The amount of options truly feel limitless, with some many positive outcomes, and truthfully, I am scared that somehow, the magic will hit the lottery with the absolute worst choice. Suggs seems like a true leader. Suggs reminds me of a guard who can truthfully utilize everyone who is where they need to be, to perfection with his ability to be strong and attack the rim. CA doesn’t feel like that. CA at best is an off the bench spark plug when needed and at this point I just hope and pray the developmental minutes go to all the right places. Also, if Bomba doesn’t start getting worked down in the post consistently and get scolded when he decides to let it fly, I think it may be give up season for me.
If Cole finds this, there’s a good chance he will call for a screen and shoot it
At this point I am confused as to what is actually happening on the bench. I’m not saying Mobley isn’t coaching, but if he is saying anything to anyone about making adjustments, they sure as fuck aren’t listening. The magic repeatedly got busted from the arch, not just in one quarter, but damn near for all 40 minutes. Supposedly in an interview this man said he wants to focus on pace and passing. There were times where I felt the magic did slow it down some to hopefully break runs. In the same light though, Cole Anthony is a problem for the offense. He loves to shoot of screens, doesn’t attack the defense or make them work very often, and he just feels like he can shoot everything. He is obviously not capable of keeping up with all these guys who are the sole reason for not only their team winning in a close game, but also being in a close game. The guy from the Rockets has been the true blue stud so far Jalen Green. The one take away from this summer league is that there isnt a fucking thing to take away from this summer league that helps anyone.
Contenders call these problems
The magic have real problems. I know I don’t always come across as the most positive, but if you’re being honest, what has anyone had to be positive about when it comes to the magic recently? Literally some players could give you hope but then you think about what is actually happening on the floor and it’s just atrocious. Communication is a real problem. On defense I don’t think they could communicate what color the other team is wearing. Let alone how to switch or who to look for on rebounds. I’m not sure if it is just organizational at this point, but between this and the isolation ball jumpshot being the staple of the offense it is started to almost feel like we may need to look elsewhere besides fucking Weltman. I don’t want to say it yet, but it is almost getting on my mind.
Front office showed consistency
I know it’s game one of summer league. But there are a lot of bad habits left over, especially with guys who played under Cliff. There isn’t a lot of down hill aggression at times, the jump shot looks to become the staple and overall there is just no communication on the defensive end. With all that said Jalen Suggs comes with all the confidence, he’s a leader, and he is aggressive and strong. The man can get down hill with ease, uses his body well and he is working on his finishing. Jalen showed a lot of great things this past evening and honestly I couldn’t be more excited for what was grabbed. For anything or anyone else, I think I’ll wait before I start making any direct comments. Just know the front office really may have done it again with their absolute stupidity.
Its clear the magic are in a spot
Luckily I have the ability to fire off some thoughts without studying quickly on Suggs. This guy is a solid ball dominate guard who is an incredible leader. The man can score, with great confidence as well. The thing about these qualities. We now have 3 young guards who are all looking to do this same thing. I am not sure if the magic are looking to utilize different people for trade pieces, or if we are just really going to develop all these guards with these incredibly long wings staring to become a problem in this league. Anything is possible in this league as guys can score from absolutely anywhere, usually guys who do that with confidence are just developed in the league. I am trying to be openly overly positive for the season as the lights aren’t the brightest.
At this point I know nothing about Wagner, so I’m going to get in the lab for some opinions and will look to get a blog out later.
It’s written amongst the stars, or atleast showcased by his peers
I think I am very a rational human being for wanting to have Mo Bomba come out next year and look to have more of a model of his game to match that of Aytons. We do not need a footer looking to stroke. Giannis shows it the same way. Having an aggressive presence around the rim does wonders for an offense. It does a lot more of opening up opportunities than what having 5 guys who look to find their look from deep does. Bomba is in a spot to be someone who anchors the front of the rim and can do a lot of the shooting he wants to do from the free throw line, instead of the three point line. He just actually has to be available and getting to work in deep. A true threat down there does nothing but earn touches on the ball and I really hope Bomba fulfills that role like I had hoped when he was picked.
