Whoopty woo, blah blah the magic are in a developmental stage and rah rah the experience being gained is invaluable. I understand the guys on the court are doing what would seem to be the best they have available and I commend them for that. I would argue every which way that the front office isn’t doing shit when it comes to helping the cause for the magic. The hesitation in the off-season is very apparent, and then it’s left the magic with really only two options. Either take on bad contracts for picks, or hold position and look to figure things out through the draft and free agency naturally. Which luckily, the magic have only fucked up that process 78 times. I for one, have complete confidence that we will not make the same mistake again with getting a guy in the top5 who doesn’t seem ready for the league. I don’t know why I have the confidence as they have never been able to pull this off hardly in the last 15 years, but who’s to say they haven’t learned from their mistakes? If we are seriously asking, I would say history has taught us that lesson. But what fun is being a fan if you can’t be blindly faithful so you can happily float down a long river of disappointment. It’s truly every fans dream and luckily the magic have been engrained in the struggle. I sure would be happy for the league to expand and have an expansion draft as that could really help the magic at this point and they aren’t even a damn expansion team.
In the eyes of a victim
West coast road trips are simply unacceptable at this point in time. It should be punishable by fine to the NBA when a team I want to watch plays in a slot that is 10:30 my time. It’s almost physically impossible to be able to watch a game that late with how sleepy I get. I live near Orlando, HOME OF THE NBA ZONE. You’d think they’d cater to a neighbor. Although, this only lead to me really being able to watch the game through a highlighted version, and it makes being positive a lot easier when you truly only see the positive in the games. Although a lot of the video seemed to be the magic watching another one fall, but honestly it’s nice to not have to watch horrid decisions that turn into misses. This year is a developmental year, and it’s super hard to feel like the year is a failure at this point in time so we are lucky as fans. But in a year from now, when the team still isn’t competitive, the misery is going to sting a lot deeper.
Couldn’t be more in the moment
Last night in ways felt like watching a super bowl. It really felt like the Magic’s opportunity to really to prove that maybe it wasn’t them who are the worst team this league has to offer. In a heroic effort they didn’t come out on top which completely lowered my mortality. At this point though, development as far as skill wise goes seems to be moving in a somewhat positive direction for a lot of guys which is very promising. As far as team development there are for sure some bright spots, but that could be because the holes are so big. It’s so hard to figure what to take from this quarter of the season. The ball is huge and picking out what’s good and bad is honestly a full time job to complete.
Seasons greetings
The ride throughout the magic game that I had last night truly was incredible. From me not being sure if they were ever going to leave the starting line, to having survivor come on and have to shift my focus, to then watch what was an absolute nails game was exactly what Jimmy V spoke about. The magic have started honestly a great streak. Being 1 for your last 1 is something that hats can be hung on around here and I’m sure the magic will show that with their next stinker out. At this point the magic are showing some signs of development, but there are also just absolute gaping holes that feel like they may never be fixed. To say this season could ever end a success would probably only be the case if the magic got the number one pick. Other wise I’m really just not sure what all this was for.
It couls be time to lose positivity
The Magic in some games truthfully seem to close to being there. At the end of the game it really feels like if one or two more plays could have swung differently, the whole thing could have been very different. Then you think and remember to when Tyrese Maxey was able to keep Mo on his back with ease to box him out from a second chance. You always think about the horrible switching on all the screens that let’s Embiid have great looks at the rim for probably fouls. I am not here to just bash people openly as I wouldn’t enjoy it happening to me, but the little things seem like at time are the least important honestly. You’d think for a young group committing to execution would be very key in the development moving forward, but the magic are just so up and down and get such bull shit early into the clock that it’s just insane. This can’t be what the front office invisioned when they were thinking about the lay out of this season. At the end of the day, without being the one behind all the closed doors, I’m just bitching at the clouds. But atleast the clouds will come back another day and look different, or show they are capable of learning. I am not sure there is a young player on the magic who can stylistically join a set style offense.
How much time is too much?
This magic team might be the most fascinating team in the league. You never know what version of the team is going to show up, you truly never know what night is going to be the night they give a team a run for their money. More often then not yes they are getting blown out, and good bodies are just on the pine. I am not sure what the goal of the 2021 season was before first top, but if being 4-16 was anywhere on there, atleast we can say the goal was accomplished. I am not sure hope development is for guys, when it comes at the stake like this. Collin Sexton has shown how pressure makes diamonds, but many guys in this league also show how things explode after a certain point. The magic have been in a perpetual rebuild now for going on 10 years and this just doesn’t exactly feel like the best way out. What’s the worst part, is there are just many many steps to go in this climb at this point. The best thing about the magic is you can chase whoever they are playing and getting them to cover alternate lines has not been that hard. Hopefully ticket prices will go way down too, but it’s still always a hope.
Those boys got sent to their room
The magic got beat by back to back 20s in the first two quarters of last nights game. They were being hounded once the ball passed the half court line, and I really thought the starters were going to play all 4 the way they were rubbing the Magic’s nose in it. Budenholtzer either literally ran their asses off on Sunday, or he broke down so hard in front of them it was like seeing their dad cry, and it was uncomfortable and some people probably got a little mad. Budenholtzer has the face of someone who could get done with a 48 minutes NBA game and be left with only tears after, even when all he did was coach. Moral of this story is anyway, the bucks are a shit team to watch honestly. Everything about them is ugly especially their fans. At this point though, I tell you, I would kill to be ugly and good then be whatever the magic are. Sports should always be fun, no matter where you are at, but in this perfect storm, this shit is horrible.
Growing pains
The magic did something over this road trip that was just down right fascinating. Being able to come out and be somewhat competitive is incredible. They had Milwaukee last night really just doing everything they could to see the end of the game. Interestingly enough the magic really could be considered to have a good start when it comes to guys to make a core out of. What these guys need desperately is a new identity (offense). As great as these guys are in the league, the success comes from the system. I would say there’s a huge ceiling on production and that is saying something as this teams struggles aren’t really the offense. At this point I have given up on the magic ever being a truly hard nosed team again. I have been bitching about communication problems too long to have any expectations. If Mo Bomba doesn’t attack mismatches in the post before the season is over I’m really gonna write a letter.
Know when to fold them
At the end of the day, I am not sure I even understand what to think anymore. The magic have came into some games and somehow their opponent has looked just as shitty as them in a lot of ways. Honestly, it is making me start to believe that there is a chance somehow it is the magic actually causing this mucking. The magic play with almost no care in the world honestly, and sometimes that care free attitude paired up with young body’s you can see some crazy happen. Jaylen Suggs hot and cold as may be the perfect example because at times his energy and heads up plays were huge. The pull up threes he decided on were absoluetly trash honestly. The shot and the result. It’s such a learning process for these guys and it’s apparent. At this point, the gamble as to how this works out moving forward may be the most exciting thing that magic fans have to look forward to.
Whose really da bad guy?
The magic being able to competitive for 20 minutes a game is not only a theme this year, but is literally taking years off my life. Things feel pretty decent and look okay in the first half of games, obviously things look off at times and there always seems to be room for improvement. But the drop off from the second half to the first half truly is mind numbing. Sure, maybe it is because all the other teams are just deciding to turn it on in the second half, but honestly that’s not even close to the truth. The magic abandon so much from the first half into the second half that it’s disgusting. Sets break down so much faster, buckets are given up in transition so much easier, and overall the fucking energy just seems different from my seat. Trying to be a positive Twitter user in regards to this team has truthfully been my biggest challenge of this season and honestly it’s almost time for me to give it up like a New Years resolution. Why should I be better if I am going to be the only one who is? Just seems like the biggest waste of my time. Honestly, why does this team even deserve positive reinforcement? Like, it’s just lying at this point. Looking to find the bull shit positive stats and all that truthfully is just a shield for everyone’s feelings and I am sick of it.
